Santo “Sam” Lagana passed away peacefully at home on Sunday December 23, 2018. Sam was the loving husband of Josephine Lagana. Sam was born on September 14, 1948 to the late Antonio & Antonia Lagana.
In addition to his wife, Sam is survived by his daughters Tricia (Bill) Dessureau, and Sandra (Mark) Rakowski, His stepchildren Judith and James Wallace. He is also survived by his sisters Angie Colaluca and Jo-Ann (Bill) Federice. His 5 grandchildren and many cousins, nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his sister Mary Lagana and joined in heaven shortly after by his brother-in -law Tony Colaluca.

Prior to his retirement Sam worked at Pitney Bowes for 35 years and cherished his good friends there who made the long and demanding workdays so much easier. He enjoyed his cars-several old school Volkswagen Beetles and in retirement his convertible Miata. His greatest love, though, was time spent with family and friends. He was a warm, generous and loving man who will be greatly missed.

Friends and family may visit at the Castiglione Funeral Home, 544 Old Post Rd. #3, Greenwich CT on Friday December 28, 2018 from 4-6:30 PM. A prayer service will be held at 6:30 PM. Interment will be private. Share a memory of Sam at

To josephine, tricia and Sandi: Oh my gosh, my sincere sympathy goes out for the passing of your husband, dad, uncle, nephew, grandpa, and friend. sam was always family oriented. I knew sam since his first marriage . he lived in our house and was one of the best renters we ever had. he loved his children very much and would do anything for them. He was a great friend and will remain in many hearts. please keep God in your everyday life, and he will help you through this. never falter in your belief and trust in him. if you need me, I am right down the road. sam is now resting in God's arms and now at peace and out of pain. my love to all.

My Uncle Sam was warm, fun guy. I have such great childhood memories of him coming to visit us in Yorktown Heights with his VW Beatles and many times they would breakdown in the driveway. He would also show me tricks on how shake someones hand and take them to their knees. He fought such a long battle and now he suffers no more. He and my Dad are now hanging out in Heaven reminiscing about the good old days. RIP Uncle Sammy. Aunt Jo I hope you comforted and consoled by all your loved ones. Love you, Anthony Colaluca and Family

Death is the hardest thing we have to deal with in life. I know words can do little to take away your pain, so may the God of comfort be with the Lagana family, helping you to cope. Lean on Him in the days to follow, 2 Thessalonians 2:16, 17 and read of his marvelous hope for those who have fallen asleep in death, John 11:41-44. Jesus performed this miracle as a preview for the future, John 5:21. My deepest sympathy.
